This impacts the way we measure our position on the surface whether we’re using a magnetic compass, the stars, or modern¬†GPS.¬†Thanks to harmonics in the earth’s ever-shifting mass this is fairly predictable but, as it is in life as well as in the world of geomatics technology, earthquakes can throw off our predictions and make things interesting.
